Hello everyone. I just wanted you to know that since my diagnoses of IC (8 months ago) I am doing so much better!! I want to give all you newly diagnosed people hope that life can get much better with IC.
My IC came on very suddenly and with great force. I was in constant daily bladder pain that came with frequency and extreme urethral burning. I had to take a two month leave from work and basically lived in my bedroom. I was very down emotionally and was unsure what my future would be. My family suffered greatly without much of a mother or wife. The doctors said my IC was moderate to severe.
The good news is that I am once again living life!!! I am on Elmiron and noticed some relief after about two months. It keeps getting better the longer I am on it. I still watch my diet very carefully as I am afraid to change anything since I feel so much better. The restrictions of the diet is a small price to pay for being out of pain! I take prelief before meals that I think may be a little acidic. I am not feeling perfect but I am once again functioning and doing great. I still get the occational flare (mostly around my menstrual cycle) but they are not near as intense as they use to be.
I still have bladder symptoms but they are very tolerable. Of course I hope one day I will be in total remission and have no symptoms!!
I have been where many of you who are suffering are but please know that there is hope that you too will be in my situation one day! May you find strength to get through this difficult journey!
I am very grateful for this message board! It has litterly saved me when I was feeling very down and in great agony!
