Has anyone been to CURVES?
How does it affect your IC.
Seems when I do ab work it makes me have a flare

I have some patients who do Curves, but I haven't tried it myself. When I worked with a trainer a couple of years ago, however, he was able to teach me how to bypass the ab workouts if I wasn't feeling good. Maybe the trainers at Curves have suggestions also!
Sorry you had trouble with the new boards, with patience I think we will all get it!

It's very interesting that you say Curves hurts your IC because I recently joined and after 3 months of feeling awesome, I am now working on 14 days of constant pain. The ONLY thing I've done differently is join Curves. I'm glad you mentioned that. Are you still going??

I am no longer at Curves...seems that all excersises involve abs to some extent.
..I even tried doing the machines with less resistance...

I am a member of curves but haven't been able to go in several months since my bad flare started. My dr. said that as long as I avoided the stations that jolted my ab area or hurt at all that it was safe for me to go back after I'm feeling better. I have to be very carefull about ab work. It seems I can do it during the summer months and early fall but after late november it hurts me too much. My ic is very seasonal so that is why I watch how my body responds at different times of the year. I am getting the InterStim implant this week so I will have to wait until I am healed before I can return. I will not be able to do any of the lower body machines as the repetetive movements may jar my implant. Curves has a policy that allows for medical leave so you don't have to pay for the months that you aren't healthy enough to attend. This has been nice since it would have just been wasted money.
I have found that pilates, and yoga are good programs for my sensitive areas because I can modify the floor work.
