A bladder infection (you feel like you have to "go" all the time, among other symptoms) can cause blood in your urine.
You need to go to a doctor to get antibiotics to knock it out.

Ok - I too had visible in my urine twice. Have you had any recent testing done that would have irritated your bladder? My visible bleeding happened when: 1) I had an instill in the office done by catheter and it hurt. I still wonder if the bleeding was from that catherter irritating my bladder, but the doctor said he thought it was my 2 kidney stones (in which were found when I asked to have my kidneys checked, and he implied that I was overreacting). 2) The 2nd time I bled, I had a transvaginal ultrasound. So that is why I ask if you had recent testing. Also someone mentioned a possible UTI. There could be many reasons for bleeding including stress which is also what I thinki contributed to my bleeding. I rememberd back at the time it occured, and I was very stressed. And what one considers stress for themselves could also be totally different from someone else. Another thing is to remember that (my Uro said) when any amount of blood hits water, it expands and can possibly look like more than you may think it is. But definitely call your doctor and make an appt. to see him and discuss this. You'll feel better if it's an infection and you get treated for it. Also I would think that from the IC and other conditions a lot of us other have from this, I (IMO) would think that a very irritated bladder may also cause slight bleeding too. Please let us know how you make out and are feeling. I'll keep you in my thoughts. Sandy

I hope you like the new doctor and that he/she can help you. Also, if the new doctor does not meet your expectations, do not settle. I don't know if you went onto the forumn here (it's towards the bottom) that lists the state you are from, but I did and asked for referrals to docs in my area and I made an appt. w/ the doctor that several woman suggested. This site has been very helpful. Please let us know how you make out at your July appt.

kimisue: have you had a Cystoscopy with Hydrodistenstion? (that's when they knock you out and take a look inside and see how much you can hold).
I'm guessing (but your uro could tell you better) you may have a bladder that's just riddled with hunner's ulcers and/or glomerations (tiny tears/rips in the bladder wall) and the blood is just leaking into your bladder. So anytime you hold it longer than you should it stretches the muscle and it cracks and bleeds. Ouch!
You could also have an infection--giving a sample they can give you a result within a day and get you on antibioticsw if that's the case.
I'm sorry you're feeling so rotten, hopefully the new uro can tell you something you can use. :)

Yes it definitely sounds as though your bladder is very irritated and acting up in several ways. An infection could certainly cause those symptoms so I'm glad you are going to the doctor soon and I'm sure they'll test your urine. Again, I know how much the added stress of all this can make everything worse. Unfortunately us with IC seem to be prone to other conditions such as IBS, PFD, Vulvadynia, etc. It's like just when you think you are better, something else pops up!!! UGH.....You'll feel better once you get some answers and get this taken care of. My incontinence problems were diagnosed by Urodynamics testing and a set of X-rays where I had a catheter in me. I am now going for a 2nd opinion because I'm still not sure where I stand...Keep us posted and please try not to worry and enjoy the weekend.
P.S. You'll find that this site is very helpful and I have made some wonderful contacts from it.

Do you follow the IC diet in terms of food and drink? If you don't it can really mess you up.
Its really important for you to follow it as it can explain a LOT of what is going wrong with your bladder.
What do you, typically, eat and drink in a day?
Have you had a test for a bladder infection?
