I'm not sure where to post this, so I'll post it here. This afternoon when I urinated I had quite a bit of blood in my urine. This has never happened before, except after being scoped and after I had the catheter removed when they did the Bladder Distention/biopsy deal a couple of weeks ago. Could this be some after affects from when they did the biopsy on June 16th? I've been drinking a lot of water since I noticed the blood this afternoon and the urine appears to be clear now. Should I be overly concerned? I'm going to call my urologist in the morning, but was wondering if this is fairly common or not and what I should or shouldn't be doing....

i almost ALWAYS have blood in my urine, my dr says i am a rare case where there is no cause for it and she thinks it may be from the IC, its rare, but not uncommon. but after a biopsy i would say yeah you would...but its been a few weeks now, def talk to your dr. it could be a uti or have you ever had kidney stones? i get them every month and i think the blood in my urine sometimes is from that. good luck at the dr.

Thanks Jen. No, I've never had Kidney stones. I'll definitely call my dr. in the morning.... she's 230 miles away, so I can't just drop by, but I do have an appointment with her next week. It was just kind of alarming when I saw the blood as the only other time I've had it was when they scoped me or I had a catheter. Are we having fun yet?:woohoo:

yes, its certainly never a dull moment. do you have a pcp close by that maybe you can go see and he/she can test your urine for an infection? just a thought...

You really should have this checked out. Bloody urine can mean infection.

Thanks... I'll see if I can get in to see my regular doctor today to get checked out... No blood in the urine later last night or this morning (none that was visible to my eye anyway). I feel fine... I don't have any pain and I don't feel ill, but I'm still going to get it checked out.

Well, I had forgotten Friday was the 4th and the clinic wasn't open so I'll just wait until I see my urologist on Wednesday.... No blood since Thursday and I feel fine, so who knows...

I'm not prone to UTIs, but the second of my big IC flares started w/ UTI like symptoms and blood in urine. Urine was tested in office and also cultured and no infection was found. I was put on antibiotics after the in office test just in case, til the culture results came back neg...the blood and other IC symptoms went away for a few days then came back with a bang, minus the blood. I did have hunner's ulcers at the time, I hadn't had the cysto/hydro yet (hunner's ulcers were found and burned off then) so in my case it may have been the ulcers that were causing the temporary bleeding. Could possibly be just some residual blood from your hydro and biopsies, but never hurts to get checked for UTI...any of my drs I can drop by w/out an appt to submit a sample to be tested, during regular business hrs, of course.:) Best wishes,Bri
