I, finally, went over to the uro's office today for a urine culture test after a week of mild burning, painful urination and some urgency.

The dip test they did right then showed nothing unusual - no blood or white cells, etc.
They are going to send it out for a culture but the nurse commented that it looked very "clean."

I wonder if it appeared so because I have been swilling so much baking soda and water all week it even gave me diarhhea at one point.

What do you think?

Thanks!

If you told them, they should be able to take that into account when doing the test.

But I forgot to tell them!

The nurse said they would send it out (anyway) for a culture.

When I have my cultures, they always look very clean never cloudy and my UA is always normal, but the culture always shows the infection. The appearance of your urine does not give much info. My doc said that the culture is always the way to go. If there is bacteria in your urine baking soda will not get rid of it, so bacteria will show up on the culture if you have a UTI.

You might call and let them know now - and they could relay that to the lab if it's important for them to know.

I should have thought of that - now they are closed for the holiday. I'll tell them when they call for the results.
Thanks!
