Here's an interesting question. Must Elmiron be taken alone? Or can it be taken at the same time as other medications (advil, st johns wort, otc antihistamines)?

If anyone knows I'd love to hear from you. They're expensive enough that it may not be worth the chance!

The thing with elmiron you have to worry about is that it is a weak anticoagulant so don't take it with any anti-inflammatories as they will increase bleeding risk....

I, as well as many people with IC, am unable to take advil or any other ibuprofen type product. Not only can they cause severe gastric distress for me, they also cause bladder irritation. Plus you should not take it with elmiron due to the anticoagulants in both meds.

I can't take any ibuprofen at all either. They all irritate my bladder. As for St johns wort, make sure you ask the doc and the pharmacist, I do know that interacts with alot of meds.
