I have been on atarax for a while now-can't tell that it helps but doc wants me to stay on it. However, he did o.k. a switch to Zyrtec b/c the atarax adds to the extreme fatigue I have (some of my other meds. probably do too). I asked about trying Zyrtec b/c I had read it's in the same class of antihistamines as atarax and it actually is what atarax turns into after it has been in the bloodstream. What have others experienced with Zyrtec? Has anyone switched to it from atarax? Do you have fatigue with it? I'm on a lot of meds. for IC, vulvodynia, and endometriosis and I'm trying to weed out the things that might help in the long run versus what makes me so tired all the time that I can't function. Thanks for any input!

Also, does anyone know about something like non-drowsy Claritin having positive effects for IC? I can't seem to find out if those types of antihistamines help with mast cells . . .

Hi,

I struggled through trying Zyrtec. It made me sleepy just like when I first took Atarax. It's the best antihistamine I've ever taken and if I knew the drowsiness would eventually wear off, I would have gladly kept taking it. I couldn't tolerate the sedation and after a week gave up.

Sorry I don't have a more encouraging experience to share. But, I know 2 guys who take Zyrtec and don't have that side effect. Maybe you will be lucky too.:smile tee

I take Zyrtec during the day and Atarax at night. I was never sleepy on zyrtec but I was in the beginning with Atarax. I believe you do get used to it and for both if you can give it a month, the tiredness will move on. I think Atarax has helped me the most

Janet, Crazykid, and Kat,

Thank you all for your responses about your experiences with Zyrtec. I've been on Atarax for a pretty long time, and the fatigue just makes me like a zombie. I'm trying out the Zyrtec and just taking half a pill at night. I'm still really exhausted, but I'malso on other meds. that may contribute to that, so I'm just going to give it more time. It's nice to read of other's experiences, though, so thank you for taking the time to post back to me. :) Grace

Hi all,

I need help with something to help boost my immunity. I have had the flu 3 times this year and sinus infections. What form of vitamins can we digest withour symtoms? Also, does anyone have trouble sleeping at night due to fast heartbeat? I am at my wits end. I was on ambien until yesterday. It drugged me up so bad I was doing and saying all kinds of things with no memory of it. I'd like to know what has worked for others.

Be blessed!
Mary

I know it may sound a little crazy...
I "detoxed" using a footbath- I think it is called an Ionic foot cleansing?? (ionic cell cleansing??) I know it sounds crazy- I thought it was, but it really helped me sleep and be more mentally focused.
I don't know where you live, I am in a fairly small community in KY and found it through a natural wellness center. I think that they were advertising through a "health food" store. They also worked with a chiropactor office (just trying to give you a few places to explore). I think you can order them online, but they are beaucoup expensive.
I don't know if that helps at all- but I get tired of taking pills and will try a variety of things.
As for vitamins- just be careful! research well. Avoid ascorbic acid (vitamin C) preparations, and even if you get guidance through a wholistic practionner, read the lables! Talk to your IC doctor (even though there information may be limited at least they will know what you are up to). Vitamins/supplements are what put me in a 6 month long (and counting) flare.
Good luck!! I hope that I didn't scare you.
