Extremly Frustrated!!!!

I am so frustrated with my family right now. I dont have my license because i had to quit school and want till i am 18. So in November i will have them. So i need to depend on family to take me to my dr appt. Well I have a dr appt tomorrow at 2 but i cant go. Nobody will take me. My grandparents do NOT work. My cousins cant take me. My mom cant miss any more work to take me. I am flaring so bad right now and cant go get help. This is not the other dr i posted about. When i called to reschedule it today it will be 3 weeks for another appt. I was lucky to get this one because i called as someone was cancelling. I have no pain pills. My mom refuses to take me to the ER because she dont think i need to go. I am just so frustrated with all of this. I cant afford to take a cab it would be to pricey. Everybody is yelling you need to get a job. How am i going to get a job when i cant get a ride to the dr. Then even if i could i cant hardly walk without a horrible flare

Sounds vicious cycle !! Im sorry you are so frustrated , as well you should be !! Is there a bus that you can get to that can take you close to where you need to be ? I know the thought of public transportation is a dreadful one , but if you can get some relief w this doctor , it may be worth it ?? Do have anyone outside your family that may beable to help ? I hope that you can find a way to your doctors and to some relief (((hugs )))

Yes it is a vicious cycle. I cancelled my apppt and i couldnt get another for another week. Know i got to find a ride for this appt. Most of my friends dont have cars or have jobs to. My cousin took me sometimes but then she had a baby 9mnths ago. Know she cant miss work for risking of losing her job. My grandparents dont want to take me any more. They said they take me to much.Well I dont go for the fun of it

If you are a member of a church, sometimes the other members will help you out. Also depending on where you live, bus service can be pretty reasonable . I don't know if there are any social service agencies that could help in a situation like this. I honestly think that someone could get in trouble since you are still a minor for not getting you the medical treatment you need.

Can you talk to your grandparents again, maybe show them this website and let them read about how hard this can be? Maybe then they would be more willing to help.

I am sorry you are going through this, I hope someone else will jump in here with some ideas.

You could contact the Red Cross or the Salvation Army to see if there is an agency who does transportation for people who need rides to doctor's appointments. For some reason the term "Angels with Wheels" keeps coming to mind. Maybe you could find something like that in the Yellow Pages??? Your doctor's office might know of something???

Hi, I am sorry your not feeling well. I hope you can get this worked out also. I would do as Sharon suggested and call the red cross, even if they don't provide transportation they may know of places that do. I hope you feel better.

Well my dr called me today and cancelled my appt. He is taking the week off. So I have to wait to go in even longer. My mom cant take me anymore because she has to get off to take me to much. Her work told her she couldnt get off any more. My grandparents dont realy care. I dont think they think IC is real. They said some DR dont believe in it so it cant be real. So it is a hard situation. I am trying to work something out with The DMV to get my license. Lets see if it works

I Can understand your frustration. I have to travel into Vancouver for my appointments when I am flaring and in great pain. That means 15 mins on the bus. 30 mins on skytrain. and 20 mins on the bus again. Often I need to stop halfway in my trip at a mall on the way to pee and pray to god that I don't pee my pants before then. I suffer from inconetence. I wear poise pads just incase and they have saved me on occasion. I freak out the passenger next to me because I double over in pain with a cramp. Do you think you'd be able to make it to the Dr's office or the ER if you planned the route with pit stops along the way?

In regards to your grandparents maybe they just need some reading material. I took out the IC handbook from the library and lent it too my mom. All she needed to do was read the intro and suddenly she had a whole new understanding for my world. It may be worth a shot for you.

sometimes if i cant get to the dr, like if i cant take off work and my dr is only there from 8-4 which is when i work...she will mail me a script for pain meds or if i am running low on elmiron or whatever, it only takes a day to get. and she can call in a days worth at the pharmacy if its a controlled supstance. maybe you can try that.
