For a hot beverage, many IC patients drink:
Plain peppermint or mint tea
Chamomile tea
Rooibos tea (Get the one with vanilla in it, I like it much better than the plain)
White Hot Chocolate (I like the Dulce de Leche by Schokinag drinking chocolates)
Steamed milk with honey or cinnamon
Low acid decaf coffee (for sale in the ICN shop)
Hot water with honey
Hot pear juice with cinnamon (comes out like a cider)

I'm sure I'm an exception but I can drink black tea with no problem. Green tea irritates me, tho, so I avoid it.

I'm ok with black and even green tea, though I have switched to decaf when I make it at home, and now drink more chammomile tea than I do black or green, just in case.

Why is it consistently mentioned as one of the top 6 irritants?
(It kills me, sets off a nasty voiding-every-10-minutes flare for me every time.)
Are you guys on Elmiron or pain meds?

Nope... can't do black tea. Between the caffeine and the tannins... my urgency/frequency goes thru the roof! I miss my tea!!!

I can't drink any kind of real tea. I do tolerate some of the herbal ones though.

I had one cup of decafe black tea, The Good Earth brand which also contains rose hips and it caused a major flare which lasted over a month! This was after being on Elmiron for over a year and taken with plenty of Prelief. Never again!
