I live in the Grapevine area around Dallas Fort Worth. Does anyone have a doctor they use and like that has helped them?

I go to Dr. England, an urologist in the hospital district of Fort Worth. He specializes in patients that have IC. I have had good luck with him. Let me know if you want more information.

What kind of protocol does he have you on? Does he have you doing instills or just medication?
Since I live about 45 min from his office, I am hesitant to have to go see him every time I get an infection and pain.
What meds does he have you taking? Is it working for you?

He has me on Elmiron and Vesicare. My IC is mild so I have never had an instill. I think he is very thorough. Here is the information.

How long after you started taking the Elmiron did you feel better or even normal?
Are you taking anything else to help - Aloe Vera or other supplements?
It is so frustrating trying to find a doctor that understands or has even heard of IC.
Do you get a lot of infections? Does he have you on any antibiotics as a preventative?

I did feel better after taking the Elmiron and even better taking the Vesicare with it. At this point my problem is anxiety about going out places and not knowing where the bathroom is. I have had panic attacks in the past when I could not find the bathroom. I am not taking any other supplements. I am interested in the aloe vera pills. My family doctor referred me to Dr. England but he is very familiar with IC. I don't get any infections. So I am unsure what he would give.

You have been so sweet to answer my questions. I do have an appointment to go see him, I'm just not sure he will be able to do anything different than any other uro at this point, except that at least he is familair with IC and would probably be more sympathetic.
I was having a terrible flare recently - its still not completly gone and the only thing that put out the burn was the Desert Harvest Aloe Vera. I was very skeptical and really desperate. I was taking perscription strength pyridium and it was helping, but when I stopped taking it I was burning again and all I could do was pack myself in ice. After taking the aloe vera for a few days the burn has almost gone.
I wish more doctors were familair with this. I used to go to a wonderful female uro in grapevine but she retired. If she ever comes back I am going to see her again. I went to see the female uro that took her place and she was not sympathetic to my terrible pain at all. She wrote out some perscriptions and said see you in a year. I think if she has every had a terrible bladder or kidney infection she would be more understanding.
Oddly enough, my male GP was the most sympathtic. By the time I saw him I had blood in my urine and he sent me home with a strong perscription of Cipro and I feel tons better.
I don't think the uro understood that when I am in a flare I get easily infected (especially from chlorine or even salt pools).
I think doctors now adays are too busy and don't have time to listen. All it takes it 10 minutes from a good doctor that will listen. Ugh!
