Hi- im new to the IC- just got diagnosed last week. My doc has me taking oral meds and is scheduling installation. I have noticed that most people that have installation have Heparin or DMSO, however, aside for the oral meds prescriptions, my doctor only gave me a prescription for Solumedrol that he told me I need to bring for installation. Since I didnt know anything about installations until i started reading, I am now wondering if he will be giving me an installation with the Solumedrol only? Do you think he will be mixing it with other things once I get to the office? Would he have given me a prescription for other things (like DMSO) if he was going to use them? Sorry for all the questions.... Its all pretty new to me

FYI- i was suffering from frequent urination and on and off minor pelvic pain, particularly during sex- the frequent urination had been more of an issue than pain

Yeah that is just a cortisteroid and some people get other kinds other than that one put in an instillation but it is pretty normal...they just get another kind put in...
i believe it is under one of the treatment options...
i hope it helps ya...

it is in the treatment section in this site and its the rescue instillations...
one formulation has hydrocortisone and one has triamcinolone
so it is quite normal to have it in a rescue instill....
and i am quite sure some of the people have put up posts about having that in the instills..
hope you get relief soon
take care

Thanks for the info!- Yeah i believe it is in liquid for instillation- i just wasnt sure if it was part of regular treatment to get this alone for instillation. thanks again- I think the elmiron is working a little bit now too...

had my instill done- Solumedrol only- and I have to say, about a week later I am feeling some relief! my next instill is RIMSO-50. Im a little afraid after reading about it. The Solumedrol was easy. I filled the prescription, took it to the office, the Nurse told me to *cough* and she inserted a little catheter with the Solumedrol. She told me to hold it for 1 hour and then pee. I went hope and voided and had no trouble with the process. She did ask me for the Elmiron (which i take orally) because appearantly she wanted to put some in there, but no one told me this beforehand so she told me to bring it next week. I am also taking the Atarax and Ekmiron and have to get the Prosed prescription filled so I don't know how that one will work. RIMS-50 instillation is next (this week)....I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
