Just wondered if anyone had help with menstrual pain with doing an endometrial ablation procedure?
The newest kind is called novasure....
i saw that someone had this and contributed to her having IC....
but since i all ready have IC and really hate menstrual pain...was just wondering if anyone had this done and it helped with pain or made it worse????

Hi, I had the cold procedure, called her option. It was done in the office, took maybe about an hour, I had it done for abnormal bleeding and it didn't work at all, it actually made me bleed worse. It also caused me horrible pain and when I found my URO after that, he said he would have never recomended that for me since I have IC. But the gyn that did the procedure, didn't even know what Elmiron was, so he was clueless to IC. Now they also have the heat procedure they do in a hospital setting, that one I am not sure about. As for menstrual pain, I had the same pain after the procedure as I did before. It didn't work on me at all. But thats just my experience, we all react differently. I ended up needing a hysterectomy for the bleeding. Now I know someone who had it done and it stopped her bleeding, but she still does get PMS just not as bad. She also doesn't have IC. :) Lisa

Hi stef...I had super heavy painful periods for years and had NovaSure in March of 2006. I honestly woke up with IC but my period problems were solved. I can't figure out why such a minor procedure triggered my IC but it did. I also developed a vaginal abscess after the procedure my doctor thought was from a strep or staph infection. I may be the only person ever with this complication. Otherwise, it worked great. At first my periods were really light for 2 days and I haven't had one at all since last fall. I'm 47 and recently had some hormonal tests so I know I haven't entered menopause. I had it done as an outpatient procedure in the hospital under sedation. I was only there a few hours. I hope my experience doesn't scare you. It's great not having cramps and nearly bleeding to death every month! Feel free to ask me if you have any questions about it.
