I've heard of strong onion/garlic breath effects with DMSO, but has anyone ever experienced this after a heparin/lidocaine/baking soda instill?

Yes, this is a bit of a strange question, and I think the answer should be a strong "never!" :loco: But I'm asking because I've had the raunchiest onion taste & breath all afternoon & night, and I haven't had any onion in weeks! It's so strong that others are noticing it, too. What on earth?

I've had several rescue instills before and never noticed this, but that's the only thing about my day that was any different than usual.

Hrm, wonder if my nurse accidentally gave me a DMSO... It did feel different than usual. :bonk:
(I'm just kidding about this part, of course.)

It does sound like you may have had DMSO instilled. You might want to call and ask.

It's very strong today, and I didn't think a mistake was possible at first, but now I'm REALLY wondering. It was extra burny this time, which struck me as odd at the time. I've gone over my food logs from the past several days, and no hint of onion or garlic in there at all. Most confusing. I'll ask the nurse on Monday if there is any possibility that there was a mix-up! Thanks for the input. :)

Well, I talked to my nurse today, and the hospital never uses DMSO for instillations -- my uro is flatly against using it. So, whatever caused it, it definitely wasn't the instills. I guess it must have been some weird combination of foods or something. Oh, well. I guess the mystery will forever go unsolved. ;)

Whatever the case, my normal breath returned yesterday. Goodbye, garlic/onion smell! :woohoo:
