I seem to be suffering from a bad case of insomnia lately. Peri menopause, night sweats, and IC do not help the situation.
I was wondering what others use for sleep aids. I have heard good and bad things about Rozerem. Has anyone tried it, does it help with sleep? Any bladder effects from it?
I also heard about Remeron, it has a rare side effect that scares me. I always tend to have those rare side effects happen to me. Any comments about Remeron.
I am on Trazodone right now, 100mg, it's only good for about 2 hours with me. My bladder wakes me up, and then I can't seem to get back to sleep.

Have you tried lunesta or ambien? I have also tried clonidine in the past. It is a blood pressure med but I was given up for night sweats and to help sleep in the past. I WISH for anything in the world to help me sleep just one night for one hour!! Some day!

I take Rozerom for my insomnia. I have had it for years, so I have already tried the over the county sleep aids, then Ambien, Lunesta and a few "old time sleep meds" which I can't remember their names, but they would all work for a few months and then I would have to try something else. These days, I go between Rozerom and Lunesta. I have no problems with either of them bothering my IC. I have had insomnia for most of my life even before my diagnosis with IC, but having to get up and pee so often at night didn't help me much, that's for sure. That is when my doctor started giving me Ambien and I was able to get 2 to 3 hours of sleep which for me was a luxury. These days since I am on a good combo of meds that have settled down the majority of my symptoms, I am finally sleeping better than I have in years. I may never be able to quit taking sleep aids, but finally I am sleeping the majority of the night and only getting up 2 to 3 times and then I am able to fall back to sleep.

I tried Rozerem on two separate occasions but I had bad flares ups within 2 days. I'm thinking about trying Melatonin. It worked for me in the past (pre-IC).
