Blood after first instill?

Hi Everyone,

I've had two full courses of rescue instills before (once in 2003 and once in 2006), and started another full course today.

There was blood on the catheter, and my urine is pink now, so I just want to make sure...is this normal? I've never seen this before, and it hurts a lot more than I remember, too. :(

This might be caused by the instill. When they inserted the catheter, they may have scraped the urethra. I think it would be a good idea if you were to call the doctor and tell them how you are feeling. This really is something that you should talk with your doctor about.

I figured it might be a scraping-the-urethra thing, too...just not sure if that's something to worry about or not! Thanks for the perspective! :) I'll talk to my doc about it.

Just wanted to make sure it was nothing to freak out about, and sounds like it's not. Good good. :) I'll mention it to my uro on Wednesday.

So far, I haven't had any blood after an instill; only after a cystoscopy.

So, apparently it was nothing to worry about; the nurse just scraped my urethra. If it happens again, I'm supposed to buy a special catheter in advance. Thanks for the advice, everyone!
