Hello-
I just wanted to see if anyone out there has adopted or is considering adoption. My husband and I are considering. I am hoping someone can give some insight on the best way to go about doing it, how did you decide adoption over pregnancy, how has your spouse responded, etc? I am 36 and have many years of IC, Vulvodynia, IBS and Pelvic Pain and feel like pregnancy may not be an option for me at this point.
Anyway, I would love to get some feedback.
Thanks!

I haven't adopted, but I have a lot of friends and family members who have. There are so many different approaches. If you want to chat about this a bit, feel free to PM me!
Adoption is a beautiful thing. Everybody wins.

I adopted and it has been the biggest blessing of my life. My daughter is 6 now and has been such a joy to my husband and me. There are lots of ways to adoption. Unfortunately none of them are easy. We did an international adoption. I can't give much advice because deciding which way to go is a very, very personal decision. What I would suggest is that you very carefully research your adoption agency before you make your choice. Good luck!

I think adoption is one of the best things an able family can do to help this world we live in! Adoption gives children a chance to break out of the family cycles the could have been brought up in. My husbands aunt and uncle have adopted 4 infants in the last 2 years. I has been nothing but a blessing for everyone involved!
One thing you could try is to research adoption agencys in your area. Then decide whether international adoption is an option for you. When my family members were first looking into adopting, they visited with multiple agencys to find the one that felt right. There really has to be special connection between you and the agent you work with. They will find the child that is right for you!
I hope that if adoption is the right choice for you, you run with it! It is an emotional roller coaster, but one that is well worth it in the end! I hope that after my husband and I have a few of our own kids, we can adopt a few as well.
