Elavil question ?!?!?

Can I take a half of a 10 milligram dose of elavil ? Because this stuff really makes me dopey , even the next day . Its to the point where I just want to sleep all day and Im in a fog if Im awake ??

I have split my 10mg tabs before, after checking with my dr and pharmacist. But what I have found that works best is to make sure I take it in the evening around dinnertime rather than right before bed. Taking it earlier fixed the morning groggies for me very quickly.

Thanks Ill def start trying that because Ive felt very lethargic and high all day , and I dont like it , but dont want to give up on something that could really help me .

Lauren after you give Elavil a good go if you are still having trouble please do not give up there are other tricyclic antidepressants like Tofranil that work the same but do not have the same side effects.. I just wanted to throw this out here for you in case it continues to leave you in a fog..

Thanks Ronda for the advice !! I have tried Cymbalta before but it made my stomach upset and elavil doesnt .. so Im hoping that once my system gets used to elavil that Ill stop making me dopey . I go back to my doc in the beginning of june so if its still making me weird Im going to bring it up to him .

It's excellent advice to take the Elavil early in the evening. That has really helped me both get to sleep and wake up without feeling groggy. I do take half a tablet(5mg) in the morning and 10 in the early evening.

I thinks that whats Im going to do , take it earlier . Im somewhat of a night owl , so my doc said take it 4 hours before you normally go to bed but I think Ill try taking it at like 6 or 7 instead and see if that helps . Thanks for the advice , Ill let you guys know hwo it works out :)
