I've used those "squat" toilets in various parts of the world, and there's a trick to using them: empty your pockets, have someone hold your purse, etc., then roll up you pants legs, if you're wearing slacks, then pull down pants & panties and hold the crotch area out of the way. Then squat, do your thing (make sure you bring your own supply of TP). Some of them have a bucket you can fill to flush, and some of the newer ones have a handle just like a regular toilet. These are the preferred toilets in many parts of the world and you see them in new construction. The idea is that the only part of you that touches anything that anyone else touches is the bottom of your shoes, and in many places it's considered more hygenic. One thing I can tell you: the first time you use one of these without any mishaps, you feel such a sense of accomplishment!
