pbridge,

I have just recently been seeing a rhuematoligist, I am being tested for a form of arthritis. my doc tells me that people with our condition can lead to this arthritis. they are both autoimmune diseases. the other thing to check out is irritable bowel syndrome, comes from takeing the meds we have to take.

What your describing is I suspect from a very common part of IC called Pelvic Floor Dysfunction. The muscles in our pelvis don't function correctly and pain in the black and buttocks a very big part of this.

There are multiple options that help but some of the simpler ones...warm baths, heat alternating with cold, focus on relaxation. Avoid straining. Speak to your doctor about pelvic floor dysfunction and Physical therapy and make sure you get a good pelvic floor physical therapist.
Another reason I suspect that what is going on is PFD=Pelvic Floor Dysfunction is you mentioned sitting is too painful and sitting is often and PFD aggrevator!

Just a different idea as I'm sure it's prob PFD, but it could be sciatica. I had that a few yrs bf the IC and the only diff bw them for me was that the pain with sciatica was more localized to my butt and leg and definately "nerve" pain. Either way, a PT or OT might be able to help you with it.

Sounds most definitely like refered PF pain. Read a headache in the pelvis or other books about 'Trigger Points.' You'll begin to understand. PF PT can help as can stretches, hot baths, etc.
