Lately I have been getting cold one minute hot the next. I'm hot while being cold and I also get the chills. I'm almost mid 40's so was just wondering. My periods are still the same. Figures that wouldn't change.

That could be perimenopause, which starts several years before menopause. Since the average age of menopause is 51, you're about the right age for all of this to start for you.
Personally, I was finally in menopause (a year without a period) when I was 51 - the only time in my life I've been average for anything! The last couple of years of perimenopause were the worst, since I had difficult periods, but I have to tell you: menopause is wonderful! Just the occasional hot flash, but no worries about periods, cramps and all that stuff. I don't take HRT or eat soy or anything like that, because I have lupus, which is aggravated by estrogen. So I'm doing menopause without any outside "help" and it's been a breeze. It really isn't anything to fear!
