So the pattern has become clear that I have major flares with ovulation (along with mid-cycle bleeding!) and flare the week before and first few days of my period....which now last oh, 7-8 days. That leaves for one good week a month thanks to perimenopause.

My doctor just perscribed Lybrel and although I love the thought of no period or ovulation....oh, one can only wish(!), I'm terrified of putting hormones in my body as I've not reacted well to them in the past.

So, anyone have experience with Lybrel? Anyone willing to just wish me luck and cross their fingers that this works?

PS. I have PBS and pretty intense PFD. If I can get the bladder stuff to calm down, I know I can get the PFD to calm down as we've already experienced some improvement.

I haven't been on that one but i can tell ya that you shouldn't be afraid of it since they are hormones you have in your body its just in chemical form and i have heard from female scientists that its better to not have your period since it can cause more problems than not like anemia and such.....so you are helping your health by doing this.....
You will probably have spotting and such once your body gets used to the pill and such.....
But if you do have any upper abdominal pain and vomiting definitely tell your doc or any weird side effects you see if they are prolonged....
But really you could be on it till you get into menopause and be fine.....
So don't be too fearful of drugs since all drugs have side effects and everyone reacts differently.....
Be aware of risks but make your own decision on it since it is your body....
i just hate it when people scare other people about harmful side effects when they are stated in the info pamphlet and some drugs save people from pain or their life so you can't be too fearful.....
well i hope it calms your bladder down...
good luck with it and i just hope it calms your hormonal flares down so you can enjoy life....
take it easy
