Hello everyone,

I know I haven't written in quite some time but I just wanted to thank everyone for their support when things weren't going very well. Once I hit about the 6th month mark on Elmiron, things started to change. My good days became more and more while my bad days faded. I started trying new foods with the help of Prelief and soon I was able to eat anything without any side effects at all. Now I can have tomatoes, chocolate, wine, grapefruit, you name it. I hope this is encouragement to others of you who are suffering, it does get better! I'm hoping that it stays this way for me and I hope that all of you can start feeling good again soon. I didn't think it was possible, I had lost all hope of ever feeling "normal" again. I became bitter at the world and resented those who didn't have medical problems to worry about. It was unfair and my friends and family were really supportive through it which is what made it so much easier for me. Please believe me, that there will come a time when you don't constantly think about your bladder. I had given up on this dream but here I am today, thinking about finals instead of the pain. Thank you all again. You have been so sweet to me and so helpful. I hope you have many many good days ahead.

Thanks,
April

Hi I don't know you i joined the boards only recently. I am so pleased for you that you are doing so well. I know how hard it can be in school and be sick. This year at xmas my daughter barely made it through the next term due to some health issues, I know it has been a tough struggle and me not much help with my own problems, she made it and decided to stay at summer school and finish her degree. I am very proud of her and for you too.

If you don't mind me asking, not to negative but just would like to know, I have come a long way with diet, and some med changes, I will have another cysto in a couple of weeks (new Dr. so he says he is sure I have IC, I was diagnosed long ago, by cysto and hydro but not treated, so he wants to have a look himself to make sure nothing else is going on as well) anyways I have gotten off track, did you also have any of the other things ic's seem to get eg. IBS, FPD, Migrines etc.? If you do have these other things I gather they are doing better too. Did you have any side effects from Elmiron, and did you see small changes from the elmiron or was hay all of a sudden I am doing much better.

I truely am glad to hear how well you are doing it is really nice for someone to come back to the boards to tell how well you can get. I have read here somewhere that mostly the people here are still sick or new to IC, that once IC dosen't controll their lives they drift away from the site. I can understand that.

Thank you again you gave alot of hope today.

Hey Mothergoose,

That's great that your daughter was able to finish. I know last semester I broke down several times because the stress of everything on top of my IC was far too much to handle. As far as other problems, I do get migraines at times and those have died down a little as well. Elmiron is an interesting medication because I was convinced that it wasn't working at that I was just a lost cause. Then one day I started to feel better and only had a few bad days instead of everyday being a bad day. Then time started to fly because I was no longer completely focused on the pain. Soon I just started trying foods that I had taken out of my diet and now nothing bothers me at all. Elmiron didn't bother me much. Every now and then if I took it on a completely empty stomach (I know we're supposed to) it made me feel sick until I ate something little. I must say that it was a slow and frustrating process but I made it there and hopefully things will work for you too. Good luck with the new Dr. I know I was lucky to find mine, she was a life saver. She's probably happy that I'm not calling her office every week anymore.

I also read here that people don't come back once they start feeling better but site is what got me through my toughest times. I couldn't abandon it. I can't wait to hear your success story.

Thanks,
April
