How much Elavil?

What seems to be the best dosage for Elavil? I currently take 25 mg and sleep great but still have frequency during the day....is 50 mg's better? Any ideas/advice?

Some people have to go higher.. I would talk to your Dr and see if a higher Dose would be ok and just try it and see..

Like Ronda said, that would be something to talk to your doctor about. I hope you can get your daytime frequency under control. Elavil only helped me at night as well.

Elavil started helping me with both daytime frequency as well as nighttime at 25 mg. I still had pain and frequency though, and worked up to 75 mg, where I felt great. I've now worked my way back down to 25 mg and my frequency is good most days, but if I'm flaring at all it really kicks in -- I have to be much more careful about what I eat and be sure to drink enough water. I'd like to go back up to 50 mg, but am struggling with my weight and blood pressure. All in all, though, it's been a miracle drug for me! You might talk to your doctor about how you'd do at 50 mg, it really helped me to bump it up!

So, I tried the 50mg's for 2 nights and my symptoms are much better...thing is I felt really wacky at night, weird head pains and general spaceyness. I'm guessing my body just needs to get used to the new dose. Anyone else feel this way on the new 50 mg dose?

took 25mg for weeks then went to 50mg switched myself back and forth from 25-50mg. I slept better most definately on 50mg. I gained way too much weight even on 25mg. My psyc md wants to increase the dose to depression levels which is about 150mg no thank you won't do it. I did increase per md orders to 75mg my feet swelled up so bad and I was so doped up. I am on 25mg right now. I asked my uro as of my hyrdo one week ago what can I cut since my bladder is doing so well- well not at night. but to lose weight. My uro said come off the elavil. I am off the elavil still need something to help me sleep but doing alright so far with frequency at night but I am 8 days post hydro that makes a difference. Ask your md increasing elavil will help you sleep better. Vicky
