Hi Munchkin...:welcome: to the IC Network...
It sounds like you have not been diagnosed by a doctor. Is that correct? If so, I think it would be a good idea for you to make an appointment with a Urologist. You should talk with a doctor about all the different supplements you take, your symptoms, and what different meds/treatments are available to you if you do have IC. I do believe that IC is a recognized condition in the UK. We have several members from there.
It is also a good idea for you to take a look at the IC Diet. Many people, including me, have used it to discover what in the diet can cause problems. We do not all react to everything the same. What one person can tolerate may be different than what you can tolerate and the other way around. You can learn all about the IC Diet here: http://www.ic-network.com/diet/
I cannot tell you if you should stop taking any of the things that you are taking now. Only a doctor should do that. I can tell you that there are some who report that they cannot take any multi-vitamins or some different separate vitamins. Many find that Ibuprofen causes problems for them. I take folic acid, calcium and fish oil almost every day without problems.
In case you haven't already found this, I am giving you a link to the Patient Handbook. There is a lot of information in it about IC. Take a look at it. It could help answer some of your questions. http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/
I am really glad you found us and I hope that you will be able to find a doctor who understands IC and is willing to help you. :)

Hi thanks for your response...no i'm not diagnosed...I have been to the doctors several times and i am told it is just stress....i do not believe it is...problem in the uk is you normal doctor has to refer you to a specialist but they will only do that if they think you have a problem....
I have had a look at the diet info....i actually have been drinking green tea hoping it will help...:cussing: oh well.....
Thanks

I think you should go back to your primary doctor and demand to see a urologist. If you have had problems for years, then they have to acknowledge the possibility that it isn't stress related! I talked with my gyno at an anual exam about my bladder problems (my symptoms started 2 months before that appointment) and he said he thought it was IC and said I need to see a urologist. Make sure your urologist knows about IC, believes it is a real medical condition (some still don't, who knows why), and knows how to treat it.
Green tea is the worst thing I could ever put into my bladder... and I had been drinking it daily for years. OUCH! I miss it so much though!

What might help is for you to print out IC info and take it to your primary Dr. app. It is the same in Canada they only refer if they think something is wrong, and you can't see a specilist with out a referal. Also the prevoius person is right you need to see one who is familiar with IC. I called uro in a couple of hundred mile radis to find one who treats IC, so do you research before you go to Dr. The only other thing I would add is the diet has helpped many people here and it can't hurt you, and If I were you I would just stop taking anything witch might irritate your bladder for now. Stopping things does not mean forever. When I went to the Dr. after suspecting IC and following the IC diet, I told him the diet helpped, he said there you go then symptoms, and better with diet, most likely IC. But he sent me off to be tested anyways.
Good luck keep reading more info gives us power.
