I was diagnosed with IC a few months ago. At first, my primary care doc thought it was a UTI. After three rounds of antibiotics, I went to my gynocologist and was diagnosed with IC. But aside from knowing how to diagnose it, she doesn't seem to know a whole lot about it. She insisted to me that the IC would disappear within two years, but from what I have gathered from books and online articles on IC, it's a lifelong condition. She's also kind of left me on my own to plan a treatment. I took Elmiron for about four weeks, but experienced some awful side effects and stopped. Since then, I've been doing biweekly instillations and taking Prelief, as well as watching my diet, changing my exercises, etc. It's helping with some of the pain, but I'm not noticing much of a difference at all. I'm starting to feel so hopeless [and helpless] about this. I would greatly appreciate any advice you could give me!

:welcome: to the ICN...

I think it would be a good idea to find a Urologist or another doctor who knows about IC, it's treatments and meds that can help the symptoms. This link might help you find someone in your area: http://www.ic-network.com/md/

I also think it would be a good idea if you take a look at the IC Diet. Here is the link to it: http://www.ic-network.com/diet/

:) :) :)
