HELLO. My Doctor gave me a bone density test and mine showed lost of bone in my spine. He gave me Miacalcin to spray into my nose each day. Has any one with IC taken this and if so did it cause you to flare? I'm scared of everything my PCP perscribed for me as he does not know much about IC. He is a wonderful Doctor in every other way. I go to my OBGYN for IC. Most Doctors are in the dark about IC and I feel those who are on this site and have experience of almost every kind can better give me advice. Hugs, Ziggy

I haven't tried the medication, but encourage you to do so. Osteoperosis is not a fun thing to have and it might prevent it.
Warm hugs,

I used it several years ago but now my doctor prescribes Boniva. I like it better because I only have to take it one time each month. It is so much eaiser that using the nose spray every day. Maybe you can ask your doctor if you could do the once a month treatment. I know there are also weekly medications like Actonel and Fosamax. I am not sure if there is a greater benefit with using the daily medication over the once a month regimen.

The test I had was a heel test. I had to stick my food on a little stand and before I knew it, the test was over and the tech told me it looked fine. It's done in the X-ray department of most hospitals.

When they did my Bone density test I just laid on a table and a scanner run up and down my body. No pain at all and took all of ten minutes. I was not enclosed in any machine for those who are in fear of that. Very easy, very important. Hugs to all, Ziggy

When I had mine, my insurance wouldn't pay for a full scan unless the heel scan showed a problem. Mine took less than five minutes.

I was allergic to the miacalcium. I take actonel once a week for my bones and they have improved. I have the dexa scan every year. The heal test does not give the true picture like the dexta scan. They told me it was a waste of money. I have no problems with the actonel.
