History of 3 months of bleeding prior to Endo Ablation Nov. 1 07 followed by 3 months of bleedding and pain, then settled to just the pain. It was suggested to me by my GYN that I might have IC when I started complaining about a burning pain in Jan. As of Jan. the polyp is growing back and I have "period like pain and burning pain. As of Ap. 28, 08 I have a formal Diagnosis of IC following surgery for Cystoscopy and Laparoscopy. I'm scheduled for a hysterscopy next week to rule out uterine sorce of pain and mucus and check on the polyp regrowth, I'm scheduled to see a nurse in Albany who has a reputation for helping patients with IC. I've had 6 bladder treatments that didn't seem to work. But they were given under the maybe you have IC, idea and I wasn't super strict with every aspect of the treatments as I've read here. This website as been very valuable to me and a real eye opener as to the journey that awaits me. I have 2 foster girls in their teens and one is not handling my problem very well. She is having a hard time with MOM having to be the center of attention and not her. I'm one of those power house ladies that does it all and IC has taken lots of wind out of my sail. I'm trying to make a decision if I will be able to be a camp nurse this summer as I have for the past 20 years. I hope to have a clear plan in 2 weeks before I go on a 2 week cruise to Europe. I'm in contant burning or period like pain or both. I only take Darvocet aprox. every 3 hours with moderate relief. This week during my post op recovery, I've been trying some of the natural remedies some of you have suggested. I'm also dealing with the post op pain of the lap surgery, gas everywhere. Great idea the heating pad for that too. My one question, Does IC pain feel like you are having the first day of your period. That's what mine feels like. Other times I have clearly defined burning. Pain is my only symptom and some cute pictures of my IC bladder. I have none of the other symptoms associated with IC.
Something fun to conclude with:
My name FreestyleRN. I do freestyle dancing with my dog. I have 2 Portuguese Water Dogs, smart as whips. One has earned 2 medal in canine freestyle. If anyone is interested do a search on canine freestyle, something fun to take your mind off the pain. I have my own therapy dogs to keep me company. One is trained in therapy and waterwork. One we call the cuddlebum. She would make a great therapy dog. Thanks all for your time to post suggestions, I've felt quite alone in this, no one around me understands. But I'm working to educate them as all of you have been educating me.

Hey Freestyle !

Welcome to the group ! Wow thats alot for your body to go through in such a short period of time !! I hope you start feeling better overall ! Yes I have period symptoms w my IC , cramping , bloating in general feeling crappy !! My main IC symptoms are frequency ( especially at night !!) ,HAving a hard time starting , and PAIN alot of it in my left lower abdomen side . I also get bad bladder spasms after I keep trying to go .. Alot of times I feel like I still have to go even if I just went and if I do that too much then I get the spasms . This is a great place to come and talk , I just joined about a week ago , and I finally feel like I have people who genuinely want to help and care , which is more then I can say about the medical community !!

I do find that if I follow the IC diet that I have less flare ups , SO for your outing I would suggest sticking to it especially a couple weeks before you leave and then have back up meds incase you have a problem anyway . I hope you are feeling better and that this place helps you , Have a great day :hi::hi::hi:
