Hi. My name is Brie and I am new to the world of message boards. I already have the InterStim, but my doctor wants to try the Post Tibial Nerve Stimulation anyway to see if it will improve my frequency. Has anyone tried this after already having the InterStim? Let me know. Feel free to email me as well.
Thanks,
Brie

I am not sure what the tibial nerve stimulation is, but is it by chance also called urgent PC? This is where they use a accupunctur needle and place it in your ankle where the nerve to your bladder leads and send stimulation to this area. Is this what you are referring to? If so, I know a friend who is doing this and she said it is really helping her frequency. I am considering it, but my insurance will not pay for any of it and it is Expensive.

Yes it is the same thing as Urgent PC and I am glad that your friend is doing so well. I am just wondering if I will have any benefit since I already have the InterStim. IC is an individualized disorder though. Maybe I will see results maybe not. The insurance lady at my doctor's office says it will take 3-4 weeks to get approved - in the meantime I am going to a another urologist (a specialist in IC) to seek a second opinion.

I was told by the doctor that if the Interstim IS NOT working for you then by all means give the PTNS treatment a try.
It normally is used BEFORE the Interstim because it is the least invasive.
I did both and if you would like more details feel free to let me know.
Good luck!
