I passed 4 STAPLES and STONES this week, is this normal?

Hi bladder removal patients,

Anyone pass lots of staples after they had their bladders out? I keep finding more and more of them as well as stones. The care coming out of my urethra into my catheter. I passed 4 of each this week. I have kept them to be analyzed by a new doc I am trying to get to take my case. Anyone know if this is normal? Are any of your neobladders stapled up? I was told ny 2 docs here in NY that it's really bad to have had the new bladder stapled because it can be the sorce for multiple and undending infections??? Let me all know what you think....

Dear Kara, it is normal have some staples come out, though it can be very scary! As for the stones, if you have been getting infections, they may be infection stones, or they also be sediment. Do you irrigate your neo-bladder? The body will spit out staples that are no longer needed. As for them being a source of infection, that is a new one on me! If it is true then why do they continue staple to do it? I really wonder about that one! Good luck in getting the doctor you want, in the mean time though I would just touch base with whoever you are currently seeing just to make sure they feel it is ok.
