Just wanted to let everyone know that Kara is coming along remarkably well. She underwent 10 hours of major surgery and she is really starting to see what life was like before IC. She has no more pain and of course no more frequency or urgency. For her this is a blessing because she was the 1% that had end stage IC. Her bladder was very scarred both inside and out. She could hold no more than a tablespoon of urine. Even though
she will be some time healing, she feels she is getting her life back.

As I had said before, end-stage IC is very rare and most all of us can keep our symtoms under control and managable without the disease progressing.

As an IC support group leader and having IC myself, I have been fortunate enough to have met hundreds of ICers over the last 10 years.

The Boston-Metrowest Support Group will meet again in the Fall and we will have a Disability Lawyer speak at our meeting. Richard Bruin has a wife with mild IC but he does know how distruptive the disease can be. The good thing is he knows about IC at it's worst and he has helped several ICers receive the benefits they deserve.

I look forward to seeing all the special people that I have met at our past meetings and welcome any new ICers smile.gif

Kara will be at our meeting to tell everyone how the surgery went and how she is doing.

I will post the date of the meeting as we get closer to September.

Here's hoping everyone's IC symtoms have taken a permenent vacation!!!

Hope to see many of you in the fall....
Molly
