Hi, I am currently taking 10mgs of Elavil and have been retaining alot and flaring more during the day. I also take 2mgs of Valium. Can anyone recommend a good antidepressant that will help with pain and depression? I tried Cymbalta and had insomnia. A Dr. mentioned adding 5 mgs of Lexapro but I haven't heard anything good about it. thanks-Penny

When i started taking antidepressants for depression i was on lexapro and it gave my life back......i highly recommend it for depression since i had no side effects at all from it.....but didn't do anything with pain.....
you could try another tricyclic since some people don't have that many side effects with other ones like nortriptyline or tofranil....

or you could try effexor....some people find it helps with both pain and depression but i have only found it help me with the depression i have....

and heres a new one that is like effexor but a bit different....they are marketing it for menopausal women but i bet it also could work for pain too since it is chemically related to effexor....

i hope this helped...
i hope you find some relief
