I was told by a nurse at my doctor's office today that generic form of oxycontin has been recalled. Does anyone have info to substantiate this?

Please advise!
Thanks!

I did a brief google search and didn't find anything --- you might want to ask your pharmacist. If you find out anything, please post it for all of us.

Thanks Donna. The info I got was from a nurse at my pain clinic. I am seeing them on Monday so I will let everyone know what I find out. Let's keep our fingers crossed!!

My pharmacy told me oxycontin did not have a generic form anymore. I get generics for free but I am paying $55 a month for the regular oxycontin brand. What is the generic?

I looked under the FDA recall list and couldn't find anything. Also I looked at Medco's (my prescription mail orders) and the have a list for the last 60 days - didn't find anything there either.

Yes it is off the market. It was NOT recalled but Purdue sued Teva and the other company that makes the generic and they were forced to desist or they were going to have to pay like 300 million dollars of something. You can find ALL the information, including the judgement, on the internet. Just put in generic oxycontin lawsuit and lots of information will come up.

It sucks really bad b/c it is going to screw a lot of people over cost-wise. Including me. Most pharmacists should be aware of what happened. Many pharmacies still have generics in stock but will most likely run out in the next 3-6 months.

I was told that there would be no more generics once the drug stores run out. My doctor told me if I could not afford the brand , I would have to change my meds all together.Duhh I don't think there will be anymore made unless Purdue makes some themselves. I hope this helps, and I do hope you find something that helps. :)

I just checked the Purdue Pharma website- the lawsuit upheld their rights under copyright infringement, and a cease and desist order has been put into effect against those making generic Oxycontin.

I just called my pharmacy and he said they already quit making the generic and that if I run out I will just have to buy the Oxycontin. But he said in a month or Two they are going to start making the oxycodone again. He said something about another company is going to handel the generic oxycontin. So we may have to use the name brand for a few months until the others is ready. Pharmacist said no one has the generic oxycodone any more.
It is nice to know this ahead of time, I just got mine filled yesterday. Let each other know when they start up the generic making again.

I know this is quite out of the topic but I just want to ask why in your country doesn't like generic brands and preferred expensive branded medicines? Because as far as I know both of them have same effect.
