Was wondering how many of you have had success with this drug for your IC?? Like, what symptoms has it helped with??
I had mentioned before, that I had taken 100mgs back in 2004/2005 for depression after my uncle passed away :( After a while though, I was able to go off of it. A couple times, the docs tried to start me back up on 50mgs of Pamelor, but I was in a zone & felt very strange. Our bodies really do change over the years!! When I was diagnosed with IC & couldn't tolerate the Elavil, they tried me only on 10mgs of Pamelor...it didn't space me out, but my heart would race
Anyway, I am going to my family doc tomorrow & I'm going to ask her about the Pamelor again...maybe one more try on the 10mgs for the IC. All is good with my heart according to the cardiologist  I just can't believe that I was fine on 100mgs before & a couple months ago I could barely do 10mgs...I guess back when my uncle died, they could have given me anything & it wouldn't have affected me...I was so down & just had hit rock bottom with depression.
So, what are your thoughts on Pamelor??

Alisha xoxo :smile tee

I took Pamelor for years for depression - I started with just 10 mg and over several years worked my way up through higher doses. It was a few years before I figured out that the Pamelor was keeping my IC under control - I thought I'd gone into some remission or something! A few years ago my pain started coming back because the Pamelor wasn't doing its thing anymore, so now I'm on elavil for vulvodynia and urelle for the IC. My Pamelor side effects were pretty similar to my elavil side effects: dry mouth, craving sweets, etc. However, the Pamelor let me live a normal life for several years without any IC pain, etc. If you can ignore the side effects, go for it. It just might give you a few years of relief!

Since everytime I tried to restart the Pamelor, my doc has given me 10mgs of Tofranil to take at bedtime. I'll see what happens, cause I've never taken this before

Hi, I am going to start the Pamelor tonight with 10 mg. I hope this works because they say it should help my depression and the pain. They said it is better than Lyrica. My script when I picked it up was nortiptilyn. I will keep you posted on how it works. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I do not become like a zombie. Good luck to everyone that is trying it.
