hey everyone, i am sorry for complaining so much lately, but i feel ur opinions makes a great difference for me, today i refused to take my instillation as my nurse encouraged me telling me that even if it takes time to work, it shouldn't make u worse, after that my dr was making a procedure
she made my nurse tell me either i should make another ultrasound coz my flank pain is still continous[though i made a c.t 2 monthes ago& it was -ve]or she could make hydrostillation to help relieve me or i should go to pain dr for chronic pain treatment .. after going to the pain clinic i saw her by chance & she told me that i have to make the ultrasound either ways coz they need evidence in the pain clinic that there is no other way to treat the pain at the urologists office, i feel i don't want to make the ultrasound, i am, fed up of making tests with -ve results, coz for 3 years now i am running tests which r -ve even when i put 2 stents before in 2005 & 2007 & did pass stones , it was based on my pain complaints & not the ivps or cts..any help here

I'm sorry you're having such difficulty. Why did you refuse the instill - do they not help you? Your nurse is correct, sometimes they do take a while to help and also sometimes it depends on what they are using in the instills. Are they using marcaine, sodium bicarb, lidocaine, heparine? Any or all of these in conjuction with the others?
If I'm reading your post correctly, your current doctor wants you to have an ultrasound or something along those lines done so that you can get pain management, is that correct? If that is all that is called for so that you can eliminate something in order to be eligible for pain management, I'd be all over that with flying colors :) Why not give it a try and then see where you are with a pain management doctor or situation? That way you can get some sort of relief for your pain if that is all your doctor is requiring or the pain management place is requiring prior to helping provide relief to you.
I say thumbs up all the way my dear and good luck with it! I pray you get some much needed relief in the end!
Hugs,
Brittany

Your post is hard for me to understand. Why are you worried about an ultrasound? Like Brittany said, it is best to follow your doctor's advice in order to provide the right treatment.
Instills don't work for everyone, they didn't for me, but I have several friends that have made their life so much easier. They said that it was harder at first as well.

I can understand your reluctance to do more tests. It gets very extensive real quick, I know. I do not understand why you would have to have an ultrasound before she will send you to a pain clinic though. That just does not sound right. If you are not comfortable with having the untrasound, ask her if she will just give you a referral to a pain specialist and tell her you cannot really afford anymore tests at the moment.

well thank you for ur words , but i am not refusing to make the ultrasound, but i ran alot of tests lately , it was all -ve , i did c.t with & without contrast,
i did mag-3 scan with lasix, & afew monthes before i did an ultrasound & ivp
they were -ve.. i had to put stents in my left kidneys in 2005 &2007 based on my pain while all the tests i did back then were also -ve , they placed stents due to the continous pain in my left kidney while there was no reason for that & i did pass stones, that's why i am confused feeling that whatever tests i do , it'll turn -ve, i know it is noty right to think that way , but i am really tired from all theses tests.. in addition to ic symptoms.
