It can take about 24 hours; hopefully you are beginning to smell better by now.

I was lucky and never seemed to have the bad smell. I could never smell anything and my family and co-workers said they never smelled anything either. I had to hold my nose when I voided the solution out though so that I didn't get that strong taste of garlic in my mouth and the bathroom always smelled at the dr's office when I voided it out but it seemed to stop there. But what everyone else has said seems to be about right, you just have to wait for it to go away and can take up to a couple of days to go away, hopefully you'll be noticing that it's going away by now. :grouphug:

I understand that terrible smell! I know since I did those DMSO (rimso) treatments for a longgggg time. My doc switched the rimso to herapin (no odor). Hang in there! For me it took about 3-4 days to get out of my system........:)

Hopefully you smell better by now, I know that when I was having these done, I've thankfully could never smell myself, my husband said he could smell a very faint odor. I did these at the end of the day this way I could go home and hopefully by the next business day ( and after a long shower & some cologne!!) I wouldn't smell)

My kids used to say "Pizza night". I knew I smelled because one time when I didn't have anyone else to drive me to my appt, my son that was 16 at the time had to be my driver. On the way home, I thought he was going to hang his head out the window. I couldn't smell it, but I have passed by other patients that just had it done, so I knew what my family went through.

Just to make you laugh....my DMSO odor was so bad (as I was told by my husband anyway since I didn't smell it) that one night at a ballet class I was teaching, one of the students wanted to know what that aweful sour, rotten asparagus smell was! I had to raise my hand and admit it......LOL...then came the heparin switch! :)

Time is the only thing that makes it go away. I put Dmso off for a long time because Im in college and I didnt want to be the smelly kid lol. I finally got over it and Im glad I did. It really helped me. I always tried to cover up the smell the best I could. I would take a shower each morning and then I would use a lotion that smelled really good and pretty much cover myself with it. Then I would use a spray of my favorite perfume. For the garlic taste in my mouth I carried a pocket full of mints.
