I had a urodynamics study done yesterday. I made sure the nurse used lidocaine gel before the catheter insertion. The catheter was small. However a few hours after the procedure I was in extreme pain with bladder and pelvic floor spasms. My spasms are so intense I can feel them going all the way down my right groin and ankle, a "fasiculation" like feeling.
I took a pyridium and half of a Vicodin but it only took the edge off. Today it's about 75% better. Does anyone out there also get extreme pain and a flare with pelvic floor spasms after being catheterized? Even with lidocaine gel? I go for a cystoscopy and hydrodistension next week so hope it doesn't make this worse. I'm hoping I'll get some therapeutic value out of it expanding the bladder besides being a diagnostic procedure. Thanks to all who respond.
