I need some advice. This is how it all started. In July of 2003 I had my first c-section. All was well, then in the middle of 2004 I started having pelvic pain. Tests were done, not much found except for a small cyst on my right ovary. Birth control pills prescribed, but I kept getting Migraines so stopped birth control. Pain still there, but not as bad. Jump forward to September 2006, and my second c-section. OB doc says oh my gosh you have a huge adhesion, they end up having to put me out after I got to see my new baby girl to try and take care of the adhesion.

I nurse my daughter until September of 2007. I have had no pelvic pain what so ever during this time. October 2007 pelvic pain starts again. Tests, tests, and more tests. Finally, laparscopic surgery in January of 2008. Adhesions found on my bladder, peritoneum, and wrapped around my right fallopian tube and ovary. The adhesion on my bladder was not totally removed due to the OB/GYN not wanting to do any damage. I am pain free for about a month. Go back in and Dr. says no way adhesions have re-formed. I have a hard time believing that.

I am pain free 5-6 days prior to period, and totally pain free during period. About 2 days after period pain starts. No real frequency or urgency, maybe some minor when the pain is real bad. The more my bladder fills, the more my bladder hurts. No real relief after I go. The pain stays pretty consistent until it goes away before my period. It is the same every single month no changes. No pain during sex. I think it is scar tissue (adhesions on my bladder). OB/GYN thinks other wise and sent me to a urologist to rule out IC. After about 5 minutes of questions and a physical exam I am getting handouts for IC and told my next appointment he will look inside my bladder, which I later find out is the cyst whatever thingy.

For those of you that have had experience, and have read everyone else's stories does it really sound like I have IC? I am not very happy with the way things have gone so I am going to see my primary care physician and see if we can start all over. Do these sound like typical symptoms? It seems to be almost the opposite of what I have read. I am just confused. Thank you in advance for any input you may have.

Everyone has very different signs and symptoms for IC. There are severe cases, there are very mild cases and then some in between the two.
I would think it would be good to see a doctor that knows a lot about IC whether that is your gyn or urologist. See what they tell you. Once they go over your history and take a look in your bladder they should be able to hopefully give you some answers.

I hope you find the answers you need soon. It can all be so frustrating.
Hang in there!!

Hello and :welcome: to the ICN...

People with IC vary with thier symptoms. This is why it is so hard to Dx IC.. While it is true most ICers do have pain when thier bladders fill, some do not. It might be a good idea to get a second opinion. There is test called the Potassium Sensitive that could help Dx IC.

Also you might want to check out the IC diet to see if you have food triggers. Here is the link to the Patient Handbook:

If you haven't already, you might want to see a urologist.

Sending warm healing thoughts,

I think it is very important for you to find a Urologist who will be able to diagnose if your symptoms are caused by IC or something else. (((Hugs)))
