Angry newly diagnosed in Oct 2008
Hi to everyone! I am also just diagnosed with IC I have been fighting this every since I was about 16 but my severe pain and frequency of going all the time Ive been fighting for about the last 8 or more years. Im still tring to cope with alot of my simptoms and not to mention what I can and can not eat. Im not much of a cook so this is very hard for me I really like eating a lot of vegetables so that isnt hard but I cant seem to find a very good salad dressing the one I tried was from cottage cheese and it isnt very good at allDoes any one have a different recipe for salad dressing. Ive also tried one with lemon juice but it caused me a major flareup! I was down for 7 days from this not sure if it was because it was from the store and not the health food store. I sure could use some help from alot of this stuff it really takes a toll on me Im trying to be a mom and wife and deal with this but seems so hard right now. I am very mad at God on how he could let me end up with somethig like this. My doctors for years just kept putting me on antibiotics and then finnaly my doc sends me to a urologist after I end up in the emergency room and they find nothing wrong with me. My gyno wouldnt listen to me so I finally switched docs. I now am on elmiron but dont really see a difference in any thing except my hair falling out When I do have my flairups I take vikaden for pain and suppositorys just so I dont get sick from pain meds I really would like some help here please!
THANKS
RENEE

There's been several suggestions for salad dressing on here. If you do a search you will probably find them. My favorite is taking softened cream cheese with a little bit of milk and mixing it with the Hidden Valley ranch envelope spices. I am not real sensitive to preservatives though so you might want to think about it. You might be able to find it in an organic form. Marie's ranch is preservative free. And I actually had Hidden Valley ranch light the other day and it didn't bother me. It says it has less than 2 percent vinegar in it and I flare easily from vinegar.
Alot of people use olive oil and spices. I don't care for that much.
Im sorry for your pain. I hope you are feeling better soon. Many on here do well with elavil and antihistamines.
Good Luck.

Renee...:welcome: to the ICN. I am so glad you found us. :)

First off, I want to let you know that it is very normal to be confused, overwhelmed, angry and so many other emotions because of this diagnosis. I think we have all been there in the beginning. That is what is so great about this site. We have all been or are where you find yourself right now.

I also want to give you some good news. It is completely reasonable to believe that you will find the meds/treatments that will enable you to be that good wife and mother that you so much want to be. Life is not over because of IC. There is every chance that you will be able to live a very productive and fulfilling life even with IC. There are also so many scientists and doctors who are working at finding what causes IC. Once that happens, I really believe that a cure will be soon to follow. I have every expectation that this will happen.

Now, about that salad dressing made with lemon juice...The lemon juice could have been what caused you to flare so badly. I have to watch anything with Citrus or Citric Acid. It could be the same for you.

I don't eat many salad dressings because I don't want the extra fat and calories. I have learned to really love the taste of a salad all by itself. If I do want something on top, I use a little Parmesan Cheese.

We have a lot of great cooks on this site. There are many recipes and suggestions here. Click on this link: http://www.ic-network.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=183

Please read the information available on this site. If you have any questions, all you have to do is ask. Someone will come by and be able to give you some help with just about everything that has to do with IC. While you are reading the information available in all the forums, make sure you read the fun stuff, also. Yes, we do still have fun.
