frequency after hydro

Hi Everyone! I had a cystoscopy and hydro done on Monday. Since then I have had the the worst frequency. I have been peeing over 60 times per night. My dr. said I am probably in a flare because of the procedure. I am wondering if anyone else has had this. I am now going on my 4th night without sleep and I am absolutely miserable. I am hoping someone can tell me that this is normal and will go away.

Yes I have had over 40 hydros over the years. Each one is different. Last time I did not flare or increase my frequency at all. Then in the past yes I have had hydros that increased my frequency for a couple of weeks. I was an RN so I stood on my feet the whole shift so I took 2 weeks off with every hyrdo.

Your bladder will calm down. Do you have any pyridium ordered? If so that would help. Vicky

That is really alot! I would be checked to make sure you do not have a UTI, I got a UTI after my first hydro and my second they just gave me antibiotics anyway, I did have alot of frequency after my last one and I would say it lasted maybe 3 weeks or so, it gets better each day. I did have pyriduim then to. I hope you feel better soon.

Yep I had crazy frequency issues after my hydro...I think I was going like every 20 mins. It was so annoying!! It eventually calmed down, but it took about 2-3 weeks. I took Urelle and that helped a lot. The prydium made me nauseous.

me too. After mine I thought for sure I had a UTI. I had the urge to pee so badly all time. I had a mini breakdown in Walmart one day after lugging my 19 month old into yet another bathroom. I thought hydo were suppose to make you better. Finally almost a month later my frequency has gone down. I think I have only went to the bathroom 5 times today. I held my bladder for 3 hours today. Thank goodness.

To help me at night I took vicodin, elavil, vestaril and pyriduim. Sometime I would also take prosed. Anything to get a few hours of sleep!!!

Now I guess you wouldn't call me a "normal" cause of IC or so all the doctors tell me. I have to urinate every 5-10 minutes day and night and have SINCE my last hydro a year and half ago. They don't know WHY this was the time it decided to stay so much worse and that is when the pain got unbearable as well so it has been months of constant urination and constant pain.

For most people though they say it should get better within 2-3 weeks after.

Thanks everyone! Even though I knew it was IC, I was hoping the dr would tell me it was just overactive bladder or something that could be corrected. The fact that there is no cure makes me so depressed. I am a single mother of a 2 year old and the thought of having a chronic illness really scares me.

Usually after my hydros I have a lot of frequency-- seems like every 30 minutes or so I am in the bathroom!! But like others said it does calm down for me for the most part after 2-3 weeks. Hope this is the same for you.
