I'm 38 and I think I've been in perimenopause for a year.. my mother and grandmother were the same age when they started. Anyway, I've been having mid-cycle bleeding, spotting between ovulation and my period and really heavy periods. Since it all flares the IC, It doesn't leave for a lot of good days. Docs have looked down their and did an ultrasound and all looks fine.
My gyno's look at me like I'm nuts and won't test my hormones. They are also afraid of hormones because of the bladder stuff. But, I need to figure out whether or not I need more estrogen or more progesterone. I've got to get some control of this and am exploring my options.
Anyone have any ideas?
Folks, what hormones do I need?

If your GYN wont do a hormone panel you can always get your GP to order one. its a simple blood test and you'd have your results in less than a week.
I dont understand why your GYN is dismissing your symptoms; perhaps a new Dr is in order..? Its not uncommon for a woman's cycle to start changing in their 30's; that doesnt mean that you're Dr should dismiss you though.
Good luck to you. Hopefully you'll find a Dr who can figure out whats going on with you very soon and can get things under control.
Wishing you well...

I am 43 and had the very same concerns as you . I also had mid-cycle/heavy bleeding and the IC became unbearable . It turns out I had PID and went through a cycle of antiobiotics . It took months to feel better and my periods are now lighter and last 3 days vs 5 or 6 days in the past .
My Gyn also does not feel a blood test is warranted so I am getting one at my yearly physical with my internist . I just feel that some GYN are not equipped to deal with IC or just do not care to educate themselves . They believe if we have no symptoms there is no reason for a test however the slightest hormonal change can really mess up our bladders .

lissad,
How did they diagnose the PID? I've had two pelvic exams and and ultrasound and the docs said everything was normal.
It's interesting to note, however, that I had a pretty agressive uterine infection when I had my miscarriage and this flare started about three months later. The mid-cycle bleeding started about three or four months after that. So....wonky hormones are defintely part of my body!
