Hi to everyone out their in pain,

I urgently need help from those who have had their bladders out and are still experiencing pain and who are also dealing with kidney infections with the ileo conduit.

I haven't been on the message boards for ages. I spend most of my time in the hospital with one severe kidney infection after the other and I only have one kidney that isn't doing well. I am sick most of the time and it is starting to take its toll on my health.

My doctor is so supportive and helpful during each flare of infection. He is frustrated though because the medical profession is supposed to fix things and he can't fix me. I would just like to take evidence that there are others out there with their bladders removed who are still experiencing pain etc.

Any help would be appreciated as my health is at stake here and need help immediately.

These message boards have really been an inspiration to me and I wish all of you out there the very best. If anyone wants to privately e-mail that has had their bladder out that would be fine also
Take care. banghead

Hi Yvonne-

My brother had his bladder out about 25 years ago and has the ileo conduit. He has been (and will be) on bactrim, as a preventative measure, indefinately. Is a long-term antibiotic an option for you? I wissh you lots of luck-I don't know that kind of pain first-hand, but I lived right next to it for 18 years. Take care.

Yvonne, I had my bladder out 18 years ago. I never really had pain except in the urethra and as soon as they took it out the pain was gone. BUT, I do get infections and they are very bad, I need to go in the hospital for them. When I had my ileal conduit I started to have loss of kidney function. Then 11 years ago had it converted to a continent urostomy and when they did that they madde valves so that I no longer had reflux into my kidneys.Since doing that I have had no further loss of function. While I still get the infections, my kidneys are now protected. You may want to see if that is an option for you. Judith bunny
