I have been with my pain doc for almost four months. I like him very much, he really listens to me, I I feel I have finally found a Doc that really cares and wants to help me. We have done two nerve blocks with no success. Last time he did it when I was in a flare, and the flare lasted a week and a day after. so, we are certain that it didn't work. So, I had it in my head that I was not going to do anymore of them. He want to do another and be alot more agressive with it. I am not sure if I am just wasting my time? My insurance pays for it so that is not a problem for me. Has anyone had much sucess with these? Did it take a while to like get the right spot? I know I should of asked him. I always forget ? til I get home. I try to write my? down.

My experience with Nerve blocks is that if it doesn't work, then it won't work. That was what I was told. I've had trigger point injections though..

Hi, Trigger Point Injections are done in specific places called trigger point injections. They are usually done in tight muscles - it depends where your pain is. I have a lot of pelvic pain - so that's where my injections went - into certain muscles in the pelvic area. The doc who did my nerve block is a pelvic pain specialist who thought that my pain was related to my bladder and tried to do a S3 nerve block, which was supposed to numb and decrease my pain - but it didn't work. This meant for me that nerve blocks were not a viable option.

I'm not sure where your pain is so perhaps trigger point injections might not even be an option. I think you can google it and get more info.

Sometimes they are done with injections of a cocktail of meds - or they can be dry needle injections -the point of these injections are to release really tense muscles that might be causing some pain.

I apologize in advance if I mispoke of trigger point injections for you. I didn't think until I saw your next post that perhaps they may not be approprpiate.

Feel free to ask me more questions or even to pm me.
