Hi All,

Could someone please post (or refer me to a particular part of the site) the various options for someone who has their bladder removed? I'm simply looking for a list of the names of the...ummm, what do you call them??...things, you know, like, neobladder, diversion, urostomy, etc...

This is actually not for me, but for a friend of mine...I just need the names, she can reserach about them on her own. Also, any procedures and names for bladder augmentation or repair would be great, too.

I will post an e-mail from her that I am expecting as soon as I get it. It is not IC, but it is bladder related. I will put it under the related conditions board. Hope to have it soon.

Thanks for any help...

Be well,
Mackie

Mackie, there are many, many names of the different diversions. To name a few: Indiana Pouch, Florida Pouch, Mitrofanoff, Kock Pouch- (this is also used for stool), then there is augmentation cystoplasty, hope this will get your friend started. Judith

Mackie,

This site is for cancer patients undergoing cystectomies. But it doesn't matter, bladder reomvoal is bladder removal no matter what the reason IC or Cancer:

This site I used to no end and still use

http://blcwebcafe.org/cystectomy.asp

This board gives you information on the following:

Treatment Options
Urinary diversions
Stomas / ileal conduits
Internal pouches
Neobladders
Neobladders for women
Ostomy resources
Indiana pouch
Florida pouch
Gastro pouch
Hospitalization
Surgical pain

Just look on the right hand side of the page and click which ones you want to know about....

I hope this helps!

I have a neobladder a bladder that I catheterize from my old urethra. If you have any questions please feel free to email me at:
