Getting Pregnant - Harder?

Has anyone seen any studies about whether having IC can make it harder to get pregnant or more likely to miscarry? I've been disganosed with IC for a year, and now we're thinking about trying for our first child. Elmiron, Ditropan, Zyrtec, and a massive diet modification have made life much better for me, but my doctor doesn't want me on Elmiron if I'm even thinking of trying to conceive. I'm wondering if it might take a longer time to get pregnant because of the IC so I can decide when to get off my meds, or if anyone knows if we have a higher risk of miscarrying because of our disease.

Even tho I wasn't dx'd with IC at the time and I know I had it...... I didn't have a bit of trouble getting pregnant biggrin.gif

I had been diagnosed but was receiving no treatment for my IC. I had no trouble either getting pregnant.

I got pregnant right away. I went off my Elmiron and other meds. And actually felt good most of the time with IC.

I got pregnant quickly before IC. I got pregnant quickly with my 2nd child but had a miscarriage in May. Now I'm having problems. I don't know what caused the miscarriage or my problems now. I don't know but I really think my IC prevented me from getting pregnant quickly. I had my three children very fast with no problem at all so when I wanted to have my fourth I figured it wouldn't be a problem. My IC was very bad at the time and it took me almost two years to get pregnant. I couldn't understand it. It didn't help matters that I was turning 40 but I really think my IC played a large part of it.

There is no scientific evidence that IC causes infertility or difficulty in conceiving....I CAN say that for many of us it may take longer because sex isn't always comfortable. Less sex...less chances of conceiving. It took me a little over two years to get pregnant.

btw....I stopped Elmiron before trying to conceive.
