Hi again-

I am scheduled for my first hydro on wed morning and I just got back from the doctor's office and he confirmed that I have the flu. I didn't know you could actually be diagnosed with the flu, but he stuck this stick up my nose (ouch) and a half hour later he called to let me know that I am the lucky recipient ;( My question is- should I go through with the hydro? Will they still allow me to go through with it? I am going on some sort of antiviral med for the flu- so maybe I'll feel better..... I much prefer to not have to reschedule as I have already mentally prepared myself and taken the time out of work. What would you guys do? Thanks- I am going back to bed and I'll check to see if anyone has posted.....

You really need to call your uro's office and ask. You don't want to put yourself, or others, at risk.

Warm hugs,
Donna

Yes, call the doctor's office & if the uro says to go ahead, be sure to check with the anesthesiologist as well...

When my son was having to be put under anesthesia, the doctor used to tell me that if he was running a fever or really congested, they would have to treat that first. I would think only if it was an emergency would they take any chances. But that was years ago. I hope you feel better soon and heal quickly!

Hugs, Tracey

Husband who is an anesthesiologist says that he wouldn't do anesthesia on someone with the flu. I know you are psyched to have this done on Wednesday, but you need to call your uro and get yourself rescheduled. It is very important to be in tip top shape health-wise before you have any kind of procedure that requires anesthesia.

Hope this is helpful to you.

Nancy B is right the final decision whether you have your hydro and anethesia is all up to the anethesiologist in charge of your care assigned to you that day. I worked recovery room for 20 years and I never saw anyone put to sleep that had the flu. You could end up getting sicker from the anethestic then just the flu and you don't want that. You need to call you md office asap tell them what is going on. They can call anethesia for you and find out . If your are on antibiotic make sure they know what one and what day you started on it. If you have no fever and have been on antibiotics for a few days one may put you to sleep or discuss different anethesia procedures with you. Final decision ultimatley is like Nancy said above in her post............ the anethesiologist's decision. Hope you feel better by then and have no fever that's most important. No fever or cough.

Good Luck. VIcky

I know when I have had my hystro that they ask me if I have been sick. Check with your doc.

I would check with them to see if you can go thru with your hydro. I had to fill out paper work and one of the questions was if I was sick in the last 2 weeks. I told them no which thankfully was the truth-- because if I was then they would have to postpone the procedure.
