kara what's it like without a bladder?

Hi everyone,

As a fairly short term IC sufferer (2 years) I have JUST found this site and it's fabulous! I am so glad to know that there are others out there who completely understand what I'm going through. I had about a 18 month remission and am in a flare at the moment. I am on Elmiron, Ativan, Phenazo when needed and painkillers. I stupidly started taking only 2 Elmiron/day instead of 3 and wrecked my long remission. Now I'm back to square one. My question to anyone, especially Kara who has had this done is- what is the procedure like, what's involved after that, does the pain go away and how has it affected your day to day life?

I have wondered this but just asking someone who has gone through it would help me more.

I am very happy to hear all the positive stories. When I'm driving in my car and sobbing and life looks so grim- it's so good to connect with you guys!

I will explain the whole thing to you over the phone. Email me and I will give you my new phone number. I am moving from Boston, MA back home to NY on Friday so I can't answer all of your quetions at the moment. We won't have our computer's hooked up until Wed. of next week so there will be a gap in time. The sooner you email me the sooner I can respond to you.

All I can tell you is I feel 100% better. I feel like a millionaire with this new bladder!!!!

NO FREQUENCY, NO URGENCY, NO PAIN, NO RETENTION PAIN!!! It's the best. I am on to a brand new life back home with my family and friends. My Husband got a job in Syracuse NY as a Software Enginner for an air traffic control company. I won't have to work which is good becuase I want to start having children next year. This would not be possible with my old IC bladder. I am as of now, IC free and I hope it NEVER comes back!


I will let you know all of the nitty gritty details when I speak to you through email.
