I am still figuring all this out but is this a common thing that goes along with interstitial cystitis? I get it occasionally and wonder if this is a symptom? Thanks!

I am not sure that dizziness is a symptom of IC, but it could be caused by meds that you are taking. It can also be an inner ear problem. You should speak with a doctor about this to find out for sure what is causing it.

I know I am dizzy a lot but it is from my meds. Have you talked to your doctor about it? I hope you find the answers you need soon!

I have to agree with Sharon.

I battle dizziness (vertigo), but am not sure it is IC related. I think dizziness may certainly be caused from meds and probably other factors as well, so it's always a good idea to run this by a doctor.

My own experience with verigo has taught me that there are a lot of people like me who deal with it, -for no apparent reason! Probably more than you would guess! For me, it came on, out of the blue, about seven years ago, and has been making a pain in the butt of itself ever since!

Are you taking the Wellbutrin XL now? That was the main problem I had with it for a side effect - it was awful. That's when I switched back to the Wellbutrin SR and was fine. Whatever ingredient made it "XL", did not like me at all! For me it wasn't the actual Wellbutrin, but that particular formulation of it. :) I was able to use Dramamine to help me out (recommended by my pharmacist when I talked to him about what was going on) until I could get in touch with my Dr to see if they'd switch me back to the SR version of Wellbutrin instead ;)

I'd give your doc a call - as the rest said it could be this or one of the other meds. If it just started after starting to take the Wellbutrin XL, that could be the culprit, or if it started before it could be something else etc etc etc. Definitely give your doc's office a call and/or stop in and see your pharmacist - they can be a huge a help too! Whether it be a medication reaction or something else like the inner ear troubles - do give your physician a ring :)

I agree that you need to talk with your doctor. Dizziness is not usually a part of IC.

Good morning. I have dizziness and nausea every day throughout the day. I sometimes throw-up (usually nothing because I don't feel like eating). I have talked to my uro and multi pharmacists. Everyone said no way this was caused by ic or the instills I use. However, it all started with the instills. Now a day or so ago I spoke with a pharmacist trying to get more recall info on heparin and she said yes the heparin could cause these symptoms. I read all the printed drug info that comes with each of my meds and it appears these side effects can come from almost any med I take. I hate the throw-ups but the meds do give me some relief. So I continue. Wish you well.

Tracey:

Yes, well not now I am not. I have been progressively getting worse with the frequency. Last night I was up 8 times and went 12 times from 5 am until 8am this morning. I went in for another DMSO this morning in tear. Thank God my Dr and his staff are the best. Very helpful. I noticed one of the side effects of Wellbutrin was increased urination................NOT FOR ME. I swear this is what was happening. Each day since I started taking it the frequency has gotten worse. I asked my dr to try the Cymbalta. I will start that now. Just not sure how to go about changing up.

I am glad you spoke to your doctor! ;) Usually they'll wean you off one med, unless it's ok to take them both at the same time etc. I took Paxil, had sexual side effects, so we added in the Wellbutrin which helps fix that. But I had so many icky side effects from the Paxil that I decided to drop it and stay with the Wellbutrin SR, so they weaned me gradually off the Paxil, seemed to take forever, lol.

Good luck with the Cymbalta - and do keep us posted on how you do with it! Hope that frequency calms down for you as well!!! :)

I've had attacks of severe vertigo in the mornings before and now. My dr. said probably inner ear and sinusitis related and to take meclizine. Also having me try a drug that is phenylepinephrine I believe and quifenesin to dry out the ears inside. but they're hard on my heart for me. Maybe you could try the generic meclizine or dramamine. Donna of this board mentioned having it (labrynthitis) when she moved her head certain ways sometimes. When I moved my head on the pillow from left to right each time of the attacks, I had the sudden vertigo. In one, half the room was slamming down, very quickly, and repeatedly. In the other attack, the whole room spinning and falling. Hope this helps...

I was looking at your posted meds and noticed you didn't seem to be on any type of meds to control spasms. I'm certainly not trying to second guess your doctor, but have you tried any of the over active bladder meds? Ditropan xl was the only thing that finally calmed down that over the top frequency and urgency I had. Ditropan and utira-c (urelle generic) were my life savers. I started with high doses, and was able to taper them back to once a day. I don't even take them anymore, but keep them on hand in case I have a bad day where the frequency starts up - but even then I usually only need the utira-c. I now use Librax, which is a muscle relaxant, that stopped my horrible urethral pain. It seems to help with the other symptoms of urgency also for me. I hope you can get some relief - I used to urinate every 10 minutes for days at a time so I know how maddening it is. Good luck to you.

u know what i don't know what's right, i am like you suffering from continous dizziness, well first i thought it is elmiron, heparin can cause dizziness to some people, then after a while my nurse told me ic can be debilitating to some people causing continous fatigue, however wwhat i am really trying is to stand & do what i can do, i take it easy on myself, i have faith it is the best way to go.
