10ml Marcaine, 5ml Heparin, 1 crushed Elmiron!!!!
I figured pee wasn't coming out the cath cuz I just had gone 1 min prior.
Took me about half an hour to realize the instill is leaking out my you-know-what-sis!
IS THIS GOING TO DO ANYTHING TO MY...UM... OTHER PARTS? Can my uterus or whatever handle this? I HAVE NO CLUE!!
Anyone???

Probably nothing will happen from it.....
i don't know about the heparin though.....might make ya bleed a bit but really it will just come out
hope you are ok

I did that once and it didn't cause any problem.

And wait for that urine dribble! That's what I learned.

This was a question I had when I was learning to instill. According to my urogynecologist this is not anything to be concerned about.
It is a good idea to wait until the urine does dribble out. There is alway a residual amount of urine in the bladder so you will alway have some to drain.

Mirrors are a must if you've never instilled before - did your uro show you where your urethra was and how to instill?
I've done this before, but without the heparin in my instill and I was okay. Get one of those mirrors that you can sit on the floor (or toilet) or one that you can install on the wall that pulls out (the old fashioned kind) that you can twist and turn - they work wonderfully! You can get them at the Vermont Country Store if you cant find them at your local pharmacy. Its the type that men used to shave with that stretch out and retract to the wall.
Try not to worry too much and if you're that concerned, call your doctor.

I actually paged my urologist because I was thinking "what is my uterus going to do with a crushed Elmiron?" lol
She said even her nurses do it once in a while. And it's no problem.
Yeah I used a mirror, yeah it felt like many other times, but there was no dribble. I figured that's because I had just peed. I was in a hurry so I shoved it in and went on my way.... was busy selling a car out in the driveway when it all started leaking out! :)
Thanks everybody for your quick response. I peed air later so I wonder if I was just having a leaky day for some other reason. lmao at least I got to chat a bit with my busy uro.

I tried to put some uro-jet into my urethra while at work and without a mirror. I missed too.

I'm glad you found out it wasn't a problem. I have never actually instilled the meds into my vagina but I have put the cath in there by mistake.
Even with the mirror sometimes I find my hand gets in the way of me getting a good view and I sometimes I go in the wrong hole.
The NP who taught me how to do mine told me that you will know if you went in the wrong hole because the cath will go in very far and no urine will come out. Even if you have just peed right before doing the instill you will always have some urine that is still left in your bladder because urine is always being created.
If you put the cath into the urethra you shouldn't have to put it in very far before the urine starts to come out. I wait until the urine stops draining out of the cath and that's when I hook up the syringe and push the instill meds in and of course take out the cath while the syringe is still attached.

Does anyone have a difficult time putting the meds in by yourself?
