Sorry this is going to be long.
I had a cysto done about 10 days ago that did the hydro to stretch everything out. On his way in the uro found a bunch of scar tissue and infection in my urethra and did a dialation and "cleaning" of that area. We suspect that infection has been what's been causing most of my pain for the past 5 months and has just gone undetected or unbelieved when I went to numerous appts with OB's and normal doc to get help. The only clue I had was that my UA's kept coming back with traces of blood that were blown off.
I've known about my IC for about 14 years but have not had support or help from docs as it was done when I was young and I've moved a lot so I didn't have "proper documentation" to prove my case with every new doctor.
Most of the time I get by with minor irritations, peeing a lot, and maybe a couple major flares a year but....
Since having this cysto/dialation/urethral dialation done I have been in an increasing amount of pain. The uro's office keeps telling me it's going to take time, I just had it done, take a warm bath etc, I think something bigger is wrong like a new infection as I have not been in this much pain in YEARS. I can't even handle sitting for more than a few minutes and the car is unbearable.
I know it was brutal, but should the pain be getting worse? I'm not even what I'd call functioning right now.
My other concern is that they did a u/a while I was still knocked out from the catheter.. it came back that I had no infection. If my infection was in the urethra wouldn't the catheter by-pass that?
I went back thurs and they did another u/a from a catheter (they thought I wasn't passing urine well) and I am waiting to hear from them about that, but I'm wondering if they did it from the cath and my pain is in the urethra if it's going to miss it.
I guess I'm just terrified that this level of pain has been stirred up and completely aggrivated and this is what life is going to be. The uro is so proud of himself for saying my IC diagnsis is real because he thinks a lot of people get bogus diagnoses without testing etc but is not really willing to talk about the "what now??" part.
I'm in a small town and he's just about the only choice there is other than a guy with a well known reputation for being a jerk.
I'm really regretting all of this....
