50 mg of Imipramine too much to start?

Yesterday my Dr. prescribed my first anti depressant. 50 mg of Imipramine. I took my first one at bed time last night with my 50 mg of Hydroxyzine and about an hour into taking both I was very sick to my stomach. I know it is not the hydroxyzine because I have been taking that for months. I hate to question a Dr. on his job but is this too high of a dose to start out with or is this a normal dose to start with and the nausia will get better? I know I should just call and ask him but I have this weird thing with Doctors where I feel if I question them they will take it like I am telling him he made a mistake. Any opinion will be appreciated.

I am no Dr but I would think 5omg is to high to start with. I started on just
10mg and it worked fine so I never had to go any higher!! I would call and see if he will start you on a much lower dose.. Good luck!

definitely way too high.. the first time I took it they started me on 25 and even that was too high.. so the second time around.. I started 10.. went to 20 than 25.. then 35.. then 50.. then 75.. and that is what I am on now.. starting so slow and working my way up.. really helped lesten the side effects
